![]() Wheat has been shown to be the primary culprit of weight gain in people with Type O. It's blocking your body from gaining all the good stuff from the food you eat. Lectin in turn reacts with your blood and digestive tract and inhibits nutrient absorption. Basically carbs have been known to be a cause of weight gain since the early 80's, but in case you need reminding, they're a big NO. They also lower our bodies acidity, thus pushing us more to an alkaline level when we prefer to be at an acidic state.ĭo avoid kidney beans, lentils and tamarind beans.ĭo eat flaxseeds, walnuts, black-eyed peas and pumpkin seeds. As a Type O, you should avoid certain beans because they inhibit the metabolism of other more vital nutrients. If you're trying to loose weight then try to avoid them altogether, as they are high in fat. While nuts and seeds are decent protein sources, they aren't quite enough to make you have to eat them more than you would already be consuming. You can though substitute soy products for your dairy needs.ĭo take daily Calcium supplements, replace milk with Soy Milk and Soy Cheese if you really miss it. Type O's gain no benefits from eating these products because the body isn't fully equipped, unlike the other blood types, to make them into a proper protein source. This might be the toughest one, especially for me. The most beneficial seafood you can eat are cod, halibut, sole and yellow tail. The fish oils, even though thought to be blood thinners, are very good for influencing the body into creating a blood 'thickness.' Make sure you once again practice portion control, as everything will be needed in moderation. The genetic reasoning for Type O's to eat seafood is because they often have 'thin blood,' meaning they don't have all the genetic factors for clotting blood. For type O's of Asian and Eurasian descent, it's especially better because their ancestor's diets were packed with seafood, thus genetically making them more efficient at metabolizing the nutrients. Seafood is the second highest protein packed animal product we can eat. The reasoning behind this is that meats and poultry are good at bumping our pH into a more acidic state, and while you do want a higher acidic metabolic state, you don't want to overdue it and cause problems like ulcers and stomach lining problems. For men it should be kept within a 4-6oz portion and women 2-5oz. The major thing to be careful though is portion control. All meats and poulty are ok under the Type O diet. Type O's are efficient at digesting and metabolizing meats because of their high stomach acid content. This is why some greens like cabbage, brussel sprouts and cauliflower are bad because they inhibit thyroid production. Type O's also tend to have thyroid regulation problems, specifically having too little of the thyroid hormone. Metabolic acidity is not right for everyone. Unlike the other blood types, Type O's require their muscles to be at a state of slight metabolic acidity. Type O's thrive on intense physical exercise and thus require a greater amount of protein. This is because the food which doesn't affect other blood types as much, greatly affects the O's. People with Type O are more prone to gain weight easily, they also will lose weight initially quicker on the ERFYBT diet.
